About Sheralyn Shadle
Where color sparks joy, curiosity, and meaning.
I’m Sheralyn Shadle, a mixed-media and Symbolic Abstract Expressionist artist based in Atlanta, Georgia. My work blends bold cool-toned palettes, expressive brushstrokes, and layered textures to create art that sparks joy, invites curiosity, and brings color to life. I follow wherever color leads and every piece begins as a spark of joy.
“Every color carries a spark of joy — I simply follow it.”
— Sheralyn Shadle
Full Bio
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and now living in Atlanta, Georgia, Sheralyn Shadle brings more than 30 years of experience in public education to her studio practice. She holds a Bachelor’s in Education, a Master’s in Technology in Education, and a Specialist degree in Art Education. Her creative life began in the classroom, where she used hands-on, visually immersive projects to help students learn. Over time, her passion for creative expression evolved into a lifelong artistic pursuit.
Sheralyn’s mixed-media training includes studies through the Milan Art Institute, but she considers herself primarily self-taught, driven by curiosity, experimentation, and a love of exploring what color can do. Her work is known for bold cool tones, expressive textures, layered symbolism, and a style that blends clarity with intuition.
At the heart of her practice is a simple intention: to make people smile, to brighten their world, and to inspire viewers to pause and look closer.
How I Work
My process begins with a single color that feels alive, a spark. From there, I build layers of texture, block printing, inks, acrylics, oils, and gel mediums until a mood, idea, or emotion appears. I work intuitively, adjusting shapes, tones, and movement until the piece begins to speak.
I don’t try to control the entire story, I follow where the color leads.
What I Want You to Feel
Joy. Curiosity. Possibility. A moment of brightness in your day. I want my art to feel like a visual breath uplifting, bold, and full of meaning.
Inside the Studio
Sheralyn works from her bright and comfortable home studio in North Georgia. Her space is neat, organized, and intentionally calming a place where both color and clarity can thrive.
She often paints while listening to music, sometimes taking breaks to play the cello, another creative passion that brings rhythm and movement into her work. When not in the studio, Sheralyn enjoys hiking the North Georgia trails and spending time outdoors with her husband, their nearby adult children, and a lively collection of pets including a dog, cat, and chickens.
What’s Next
Sheralyn is currently developing a new abstract floral series, with plans to explore landscapes and large animals in future bodies of work. She is focused on growing her brand, connecting with collectors, and preparing for eventual gallery representation and a future solo exhibition.
