There is something wonderfully self-possessed about Opal. With her sweeping horns, tousled Highland coat, and steady gaze, she seems to meet the viewer entirely on her own terms.
Expressive layers of warm earth tones mingle with unexpected touches of blue and violet, allowing her form to emerge from a loose, atmospheric background. Bold brushwork and shifting color give the painting energy, while Opal herself brings a quiet strength—and just enough attitude—to hold the room.
An original mixed-media painting by Sheralyn Shadle, Opal is a contemporary animal portrait filled with character, color, and presence.
